Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Match Review | IPL 2022

Finally, a moment to drop down your held breath. What a comeback from the Chennai Super Kings. Clinched 2 points in the table by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 5th game. After having their four straight defeats in IPL 2022, they have kept their hope alive in the tournament. 

Chennai Super Kings took over RCB on their 5th game which was almost like a do-or-die situation for them. The team looked imbalanced since the miss of their predominant bowler Deepak Chahar in the first 4 games. As he was hoping to return to the team there came a huge blow for the team before the start of this match. Deepak Chahar has further had an back injury and sources say that he's been ruled out of IPL 2022. 

After this huge blow, the Super Kings stepped into the field to face their former opener Faf Du Plessis as their opposite skipper in the toss. Ravindra Jadeja had been facing a hard-luck time in the toss because he has won only 1 out of 5 matches so far. Not only the toss but even their promising youngster and last season's orange cap holder Ruturaj Gaikwad's poor form tend to continue in this match as well. The team has also lost their key batsman Moeen Ali on collapsed run-out call. 

The team had been struggling till their 10th over, they hardly made 60-2 at the end of 10 overs. Later the charge lit up by Shivam Dube and well-experienced Robin Uthappa had been the talk of the town today. They started hitting 13 runs each for the 11,12 and 13th over respectively. The momentum completely got shifted when the Super Kings opener Robin Uthappa smashed Glenn Maxwell for three sixes on his third over was the turning point of the game. 

Chennai Super Kings have consistently scored 13+ runs from there 11th over till the 19th over. A phenomenal knock of Robin Uthappa came to end when he was at 88(50), he smashed 9 sixes and 4 fours at the strike rate of 176. He's currently the 3rd racing contender for the orange cap. 

On the other end, Shivam Dube effortlessly hit 8 long sixes and 5 fours and got dismissed on the last ball of the 20th over by scoring 95(46) with a strike rate of 206.52. 

Chennai Super Kings have been always the stronger side when it comes to batting. Their bowling unit, unlike another day, made a surprise by picking up early powerplay wickets and crumbled top-order batsmen of RCB in their initial overs. They were 50-4 at one stage, but the match wasn't got over because their young pulses Suyash 34(18) and Shabaz 41(27) had knocked great innings. 

Chennai Super Kings Theekshana has been the key bowler for them in today's game. The game even then wasn't over, because the left-arm seamer Mukesh Choudhary had dropped down 2 easy catches of Suyash and Dinesh Karthik which would have cost this match for Chennai Super Kings later. 

The youngster still hasn't looked confident on the field, he even leaked 23 runs in one end, when 71 were required from 24. They came to a stage where RCB's new Finisher Dinesh Karthik took up the charge and was likely to finish the game for RCB, he got out in Dwayne Bravo's full toss ball which got into the safer hands of Skipper Ravindra Jadeja. 

As usual, it was a bp tablet game from the Chennai Super Kings. Their batters looked confident and this victory should help Ruturaj to overcome his match-winning pressure from the next match. As his contribution will play a huge part for the team. 

On their bowling unit, fans expect Chennai Super Kings to look for some alternative bowler for Deepak Chahar. And they would keep a check on Mukesh Choudhary in their next game. They might look for some other bowlers in their next game.
